Ready to Run: Day 1 of the Big East Tournament

The Big East Tournament starts today. This is when we weed out the teams who come to New York with slight hope on Monday, and lose it on Tuesday. So on this Tuesday there are very few big story lines. The first matchup consists of #9 seed UConn vs #16 seed Depaul. I see the UConn having no problem what so ever with Depaul. The winner of that game gets Georgetown.
Next is the 12 13 matchup, which is Seton Hall vs Rutgers. This will be a tight game that nobody cares about. The winner of this game plays St. John's. Remember that, I will talk about The Johnie's later.
The Next matchup has #10 Villanove vs #15 USF. No problems here. The Cats will roll. Cincinati faces the winner.
The last matchup is by far the most intruiging. #11 Marquette  vs  #14 Providence. Marquette is playing for their tournament lives. They are the bubble team in The Big East. If the Big East sends 11 teams, Marquette will be the 11th.(Provided they do not win The Big East Tournament.) On the other side you have Marshon Brooks, who in my opinion is the 2nd most fun player to watch in the country. He and The Friars have a tendency to knock off teams. Even though they are 15-16, they go out and play hard in the toughest conference in the country. They usually do not get the W. But, they have knocked off Lousiville, Villanova, and came very close to beating Georgetown in DC. I think Marquette will prevail, but it will be a close game. Expect to see 30+ in the stat sheet next to Marshon Brooks name. The winner will face West Virginia.-Josh Neighbors
